Restricted and Forbidden Objects

Forbidden in checked baggagea

For security reasons, the following items are forbidden in an aircrafts cargo area:
Ammo, detonators, mines, grenades, explosive military items, pyrotechnics, fireworks, dinamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives, toxic and chemical substances.

Forbidden in hand baggage

Firearms and artifacts that fire projectiles, or objects that could be mistaken for them.
All kinds of weapons, guns, pistols, revolvers, shotguns, toy guns, replicas or imitations that could be confused with real weapons, firearm parts, compressed air weapons, bows, crossbows, etc.
Artifacts used to stun or immobilize
Electrical defense weapons, machines to stun or kill animals, stunning chemical substances, gases or aerosols, pepper spray, tear gas, acid aerosols.
Sharp objects with sharp edges
Objects used to cut and shred, axes, blades, hooks, ice hooks, swiss knifes, knifes with blades over 6cm long, scissors with sharp tips and over 6cm long, martial arts items with sharp edges, swords, small swords, scalpels.
Work tools that could cause serious injury
Crowbars, drills, portable electrical drills, tools with blades over 6cm long, screwdrivers, icepicks, saws, blowtorchs, nutrunners, machetes, gardening scissors, toolboxes, medical or dentist equipment, hammers.
Blunt instruments that can be used to hit
Baseball or softball bats, martial art equipments.
Explosives & flammable substances
Ammo, detonators, mines, grenades, explosive military items, pyrotechnics, fireworks, dinamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives

Liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs)

The DAC(Dirección de Aviación Civil) enforces the following rules for the transport of LAGs carried in hand baggage for international flights:

Only liquids, aerosols and gels for personal and cosmetic use are allowed, placed in small containers of no more than 100ml/100gr/4.3oz capacity, all placed inside a re-sealable 8x8 inches plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1 liter (35 oz.) for each passenger. All content must easily go into the bag, which will be sealed completely.

The passenger must provide his/her own bag and be prepared before passing by the airport's security filters. Also, the bag wil be checked at control points and be passed through the x-ray scan, so it's advisable to keep it at hand.
