TAGSA makes 17 young cancer patients' dream come true
05/12/2011 - Knowing LAN's solidarity and as part of its Social Responsibility Program, TAGSA made 17 kids' dreams come true. Cancer patients from Juan José Martínez Queirolo Foundation had the opportunity to fulfill their dream: to fly on a plane.
Joined by the mothers of three of the children, a doctor, 2 LAN representatives and Lcda. Giselle Tello, the foundation's hospital teacher, the program started at 08:30 in LAN's hangar where the kids were shown how a plane flies, had the chance to look and touch the plane's motor, and chat with a pilot who gladly answered all of their questions. After being checked at Guayaquil's Airport, they were ready in the preboarding hall. The emotions in their faces were hard to hide. 9 year old Kevin Plúa shared "I've always wanted to fly in a plane, today that dream comes true".
Upon arriving in Quito, the kids were taken to Tumbaco and after lunch enjoyed 2 hours in "Minicity", a miniature town where they fulfilled their dreams of being singers, hair dressers, bread makers, firemen, and other professions.
A day full of emotions and fun, when 17 kids forgot - for a few hours - their pain and sickness in order to enjoy the wonders of being a kid.
