Guayaquil Airport Officially Receives ACI Awards

The awards granted by the Airports Council International (ACI) under the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Program recognized Guayaquil Airport for its outstanding service quality. Since their creation in 2006, these awards have become the leading benchmark for airport quality and services, with participation from around 320 airports representing 80 countries worldwide.

During the 27th ACI Annual General Assembly, held this year on Mauritius Island, Africa, on October 17, 2017, the formal award ceremony took place. This year, Guayaquil Airport maintained its leadership as The Best Airport in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as The Best Airport in the Latin America and Caribbean Region in the 2 to 5 million passengers category, and The Best in the World in the 2 to 5 million passengers category.

Ezequiel Barrenechea – Executive Vice President of TAGSA, Econ. Luis Carrera del Río – President of the Guayaquil Airport Authority, and Gen. Ángel Córdova Carrera – TAGSA's General Manager attended the ceremony to receive the awards on behalf of Guayaquil Airport.

The awards received by Guayaquil Airport were:

Best Airport in Latin America and the Caribbean:

  1. Guayaquil Airport
  2. Nassau Airport and Punta Cana Airport
  3. Aruba Airport and Quito Airport

Best Airport in Latin America and the Caribbean (2 to 5 million passengers category):

  1. Guayaquil Airport

Best Airport in the World (2 to 5 million passengers category):

  1. Guayaquil Airport
  2. Toronto Billy Bishop Airport and Srinagar Airport
  3. Langkawi Airport and Ottawa Airport

Guayaquil Airport Receives Carbon Footprint Accreditation

The Airports Council International (ACI) recognized Guayaquil Airport as the first airport in Ecuador, in the 2 to 5 million passengers category, to obtain Carbon Footprint Accreditation at the MAPPING level. This means that through its efforts to maintain sustainable development and reduce environmental impact, the airport has established the measurement of its current carbon emission levels.

Both José Joaquín de Olmedo Airport and El Dorado International Airport in Colombia are now accredited, bringing the total to six airports in the region committed to reducing their carbon emissions.
