We Received Aerodrome Certification

Guayaquil Airport received the “Aerodrome Certificate” from the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, certifying that we comply with all aeronautical regulations related to the airside or maneuvering area.

With the presence of the DGAC Airport Chief, the President of the Airport Operators Association, and TAGSA officials involved in the process, Engineer Augusto Díaz, the official in charge of the certification process and delegate of the Director General, presented us with the certificate.

ACI Award Presentation

In a ceremony held on September 4, 2019, in Bali, Indonesia, Guayaquil Airport received the ASQ award for Best Airport in the Latin America and Caribbean Region, in the 2 to 5 million passengers category from representatives of Airports Council International (ACI). Jennifer Vallejo, Customer Service Supervisor, represented TAGSA to receive the award.

The ASQ awards are the most prestigious in the industry and are determined based on surveys conducted among airport users worldwide.

Welcome Plus Ultra

Starting Friday, July 12, the Spanish airline Plus Ultra, founded in 2011, will begin operations in Guayaquil with three weekly flights to Madrid on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The General Manager of Terminal Aeroportuaria de Guayaquil S.A. (TAGSA), Ángel Córdova, and Plus Ultra Airlines Vice President, Julio Martínez, cut the symbolic ribbon to celebrate the start of the airline's operations.

JetBlue Announces New Route: New York – Guayaquil

The U.S. low-cost airline JetBlue Airways will introduce a direct flight between Guayaquil and New York by the end of 2019. The airline confirmed this addition, complementing its existing route from Guayaquil Airport to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

This new route will feature the modern Airbus A321 Neo, which offers advanced technology compared to the A320 currently used for flights to Fort Lauderdale.

The inaugural flight will take place on December 5, 2019. The flight will depart from New York's John F. Kennedy Airport at 14:00 and arrive in Guayaquil at 21:04. The return flight from Guayaquil will depart at 22:55 and arrive in New York at 05:13.

Guayaquil Becomes the New Destination for Two Airlines

We welcome two new airlines offering routes to passengers at our airport: JetBlue and Laser Airlines.

JetBlue landed its inaugural flight on February 28 at José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport in Guayaquil, arriving from Fort Lauderdale. This airline is based in New York and is a market leader in Boston. With its arrival in Guayaquil, we become JetBlue's sixth destination in South America, offering seven weekly flights to Fort Lauderdale.

Laser Airlines brings its route to Caracas, Venezuela, with two weekly flights. Its inaugural flight was in December, and it recently opened its sales point here in our terminal (upper level).

ACI Awards Guayaquil Airport

Guayaquil Airport has once again been recognized by the Airports Council International (ACI), receiving this time the award for Best Airport in Latin America and the Caribbean in the 2 to 5 million passengers category.

The ASQ Awards are the most prestigious in the industry and are determined based on surveys conducted with airport users worldwide. The official award ceremony will take place in September 2019 in Bali, Indonesia.
